About Fumigation
When drywood termites are widespread — hidden inside walls, between floors, or deep in structural framing — no localized treatment can reach them all. Fumigation can.
K Termite uses Vikane® (sulfuryl fluoride), the industry-standard fumigant. Your home is sealed and Vikane penetrates every piece of wood in the structure — inside walls, above ceilings, within roof framing, and anywhere else termites hide. It eliminates 100% of drywood termites in the home.

Prepare Your Home
We provide a step-by-step checklist in advance so you know exactly what to do. Here's an overview:
Interior Preparations
Double-bag all food, medicine, and consumables into the provided NyloFume bags, including in the refrigerator, freezer, and pantry.
Electricity and water must stay on. Fans will be set up inside to ensure proper gas circulation.
Remove all valuables — cash, jewelry, etc. Better safe than sorry.
Open and unlock all cabinets, drawers, safes, and filing cabinets to ensure proper gas circulation.
Open or remove all waterproof covers on mattresses and pillows
Turn off all alarms, HVAC, sprinklers, and automatic timer systems.
Evacuate all people, animals, fish, and plants — including outdoor pets.
Exterior Preparations
Cut back plants, trees, and bushes to create 12 inches of clearance from the building perimeter.
Move any storage or debris away from the structure.
The day before, water the soil up to 18 inches from the outer walls.
Unlock all side and front gates.
Get the neighbor's permission if you were instructed to do so.
Take down exterior decorations, hanging plants, wind chimes
Move all cars out of the garage and driveway.
Fumigation Process
A 3-day process where your home is sealed and treated with Vikane gas, then aerated and tested for safety before you can return.
Day 1
Tent & Gas Introduction
Gas company arrives first to shut off gas. Their arrival window is 7:00 AM – 11:30 AM. Unfortunately we have no control over their exact arrival time.
Our crew arrives and covers your home with specialized tarps, seals all openings, and places warning signs at every entry point.
Exterior doors are locked & secured.
Vikane is introduced into the structure, as well as Chloropricin as a warning agent.
Day 2
Exposure & Aeration
The fumigant remains in the structure for the required exposure period.
Our crew arrives to begin aeration, taking approximately 24 hours.
Day 3
Clearance & Re-entry
Our crew arrives to begin uncovering your home.
Use specialized equipment to monitor and confirm Vikane has fully dissipated.
A Notice of Re-Entry is posted on your front door or gas meter. Leave it posted until the gas company restores service.
An adult (18+) must be present for gas restoration. Gas company arrival window: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM Saturday.

Safety

Vikane is a gas — it does not leave residue on surfaces, furniture, clothing, electronics, or food preparation areas. Once aerated and cleared, nothing remains in your home from the fumigation process. Nothing needs to be cleaned or wiped down afterward.
Your home is not cleared for re-entry until a licensed professional has tested the air with detection equipment and confirmed it meets safety standards. This is measured and documented — not a judgment call.
Warranty
Every K Termite fumigation comes with a 4-year warranty. If drywood termites are found during the warranty period, we treat locally at no additional cost.
To continue coverage beyond the warranty period, ask about our Termite Protection Policy — annual inspections, included treatments, and a warranty that extends every year.

The entire process — tent installation through clearance — typically takes 2–3 days. Most homeowners leave for two nights.
Pricing is based on your home's cubic footage. We provide a detailed written estimate after your free inspection. We encourage you to compare our pricing — many customers tell us we're lower than other quotes they received.
No. Vikane does not leave residue. Your clothing, bedding, dishes, furniture, and personal items do not need to be cleaned.
No. Tarps are secured carefully. Inside, Vikane does not affect furniture, electronics, fabrics, paint, flooring, or any household materials.
No. Fumigation eliminates drywood termites only. Subterranean termites live in the soil — the gas doesn't reach them. If you have both types, we recommend fumigation for drywood and a separate soil treatment for subterranean.
It depends on the structure. Attached units sharing common walls or attic spaces typically require the entire building to be tented. K Termite has experience managing multi-unit fumigations and can help coordinate the process.
Your fumigation is covered by our 4-year warranty. If drywood termites are found during that period, we re-treat at no additional cost. We also offer our Termite Protection Policy for ongoing annual coverage after the warranty ends.
Anything that isn't in a factory-sealed can or bottle must be double-bagged in the special fumigation (Nylofume) bags we provide, or removed from the home. That includes items in the refrigerator and freezer.
